Chargers inside garages
An integral garage is often the easiest place for a charger. It's dry, the cable stays tidy and the unit is out of sight. If your consumer unit is in the garage already, the install can be very short. We check there's ventilation and space to plug in with the car parked normally.

Detached garages and rear parking
Many homes in Hatch Warren, Lychpit and Chineham have parking courts or garage blocks behind the house. Reaching them usually means armoured cable clipped along walls and fences, run through ducting under paths, or buried in a trench. We pick the route that's tidiest and least disruptive, and cost each option so you can choose.
Getting the cable size right
Over longer distances, voltage drop means a thicker cable is needed. A 20m run to a 32A charger needs a different cable from a 5m run. Your quote shows the cable type and length, so you can compare quotes like for like.
If the garage has its own supply
Some detached garages are fed from a small sub-board. If it's big enough and in good condition, we may be able to feed the charger from there. If not, we run a new dedicated circuit from the house.
Common questions
How far can an EV charger be from the fuse board?
There's no fixed limit. Longer runs just need thicker cable and more labour. Runs of 20 to 40 metres are common.
Can a charger go on a shared or allocated parking space?
Often, yes, with written permission from the freeholder or management company. See our page on landlords and flats.
